Overview

Background:

Marvin Obry has always been a champion for Hortonville students. Growing up in Casco, WI, Marv elected to pursue an education, rather than stay at home and work the family farm. After graduating from Luxemburg-Casco High School in 1949, he attended UW-Platteville, pursuing a degree in agriculture with minors in biological science and social science. Upon graduating, he began his first teaching job at Shiocton High School where he quickly became the supervising principal. In 1968, he accepted the position of Superintendent for Hortonville Area School District. Marv was known for being a steadfast supporter of students in and out of the classroom. He attended countless athletic events and concert performances over his career. After Marv’s retirement in 1991, he continued to stay involved in the Hortonville community and school by driving bus, being a member of his church council, serving on the county board and being elected to the Hortonville Area School District school board. He was extremely well respected, admired and appreciated by his staff and students. One of them quoted as saying, “He cared for me. He cares for us.”
