Background:
The Kiwanis Club of Appleton – Golden “K” established a scholarship fund in 2001 thanks to contributions from Leo Weiss, a charter member, and from the Dr. Earl Kitzerow estate. Numerous annual events are held in order to continue supporting the fund. A few of these events are the Golf Jamboree, Porky Pancake Breakfast, Italian Dinner and Brat Cookouts. Thanks to all the Kiwanis Club of Appleton past, current, and future members for their generosity and their time so this scholarship can continue to support worthy students.
Eligibility: (taken into consideration to determine recipients) • Graduating seniors from the following Appleton high schools: o Appleton East High School o Appleton North High School o Appleton West High School o Fox Valley Lutheran High School o St. Francis Xavier High School • Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA • Planning to pursue a post-secondary degree at a 2- or 4-year accredited college or university or technical college as a full-time student • Academics, participation in school and/or community activities and work experience
Award Amount:
One non-renewable $1,000 scholarship award to a student from each of the 5 above named schools, payable for the first semester of college.
Selection:
Recipients will be recommended each spring by each of the High Schools’ Scholarship Selection Committees.
Collecting the Award & Payment Procedure:
Recipients must fill out and submit Scholarship Acceptance Form and Scholarship Verification Form through the Scholarship Portal (https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=cffvrscholar). Recipients are required to provide supporting documents as instructed in the Scholarship Verification Form, such as class registration/list with credits listed, proof of major, grade transcript, etc. After approval of online Scholarship Verification Form, the scholarship check will be paid directly to the school the recipient will be attending. The Community Foundation communicates with students via email; it is the student’s responsibility to keep their Scholarship Portal account updated with their current email address.
Loss of Eligibility:
Failure to register as a full-time student for the first semester of the freshman year of college.
