Overview

Background:

The Circle of Hope Scholarship Award is given to a graduating senior from an Appleton public or private high school who has overcome significant life challenges and is now pursuing higher education. These challenges may include (but are not limited to): truancy or poor attendance, drug and/or alcohol issues, GPA issues, teen parenting, lack of motivation in schooling, disciplinary issues.

Eligibility

Eligibility: (taken into consideration to determine recipients) • Graduating seniors from an Appleton public or private high school and Neenah High School • Sufficient GPA and number of credits to graduate from their high school and to be accepted into the college of their choice • Planning to attend an accredited vocational school, technical school, or 2- or 4-year college or university as a full-time student

Award Amount:

One non-renewable scholarship award up to $1,000. This will be evenly distributed in the first and second semesters. If a recipient does not meet eligibility prior to the second payment of the scholarship, the second payment will not be issued. Scholarship may be used for tuition, fees and books.

Selection:

Up to 2 qualified students will be nominated by their high school guidance counselors. Recipients will be recommended by the King’s Daughters Circle of Hope Scholarship Award Selection Committee. The alternate selection committee is the Community Foundation Selection Committee.

Collecting the Award & Payment Procedure:

Recipients must fill out and submit Scholarship Acceptance Form and Scholarship Verification Form through the Scholarship Portal (https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=cffvrscholar). Recipients are required to provide supporting documents as instructed in the Scholarship Verification Form, such as class registration/list with credits listed, proof of major, grade transcript, etc. After approval of online Scholarship Verification Form, the scholarship check will be paid directly to the school the recipient will be attending. The Community Foundation communicates with students via email; it is the student’s responsibility to keep their Scholarship Portal account updated with their current email address.

Loss of Eligibility:

Failure to maintain good academic standing as a full-time student within an accredited vocational school, technical school, 2-year college or 4-year college or university.
