Kaukauna Alumni Foundation Dr. George Behnke Memorial Scholarship

Background:

This scholarship was established in loving memory of Dr. George A. Behnke by his family. George served on the Kaukauna Area School District board of directors for 12 years from 1955-1967. For several years he also served as president of the board. He supported athletics at Kaukauna High School as a fan and by providing yearly physical examinations to athletes. Dr. Behnke was inducted into the Kaukauna High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1976. As a physician and surgeon, Dr. Behnke practiced medicine in the Kaukauna area from 1946-1975.

Eligibility: (taken into consideration to determine recipients)

• Graduating seniors at Kaukauna High School • Planning to attend a 4-year college or university located in Wisconsin as a full-time student • Planning to study medicine or biological sciences • Demonstrated verbal and interpersonal skills

Award Amount:

One $1,000 non-renewable scholarship award for tuition expenses.

Selection:

Recipients are recommended each spring by the Kaukauna Alumni Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee.

Collecting the Award & Payment Procedure:

Recipients must fill out and submit Scholarship Acceptance Form and Scholarship Verification Form through the Scholarship Portal (https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=cffvrscholar). Recipients are required to provide supporting documents as instructed in the Scholarship Verification Form, such as class registration/list with credits listed, proof of major, grade transcript, etc. After approval of online Scholarship Verification Form, the scholarship check will be paid directly to the school the recipient will be attending. The Community Foundation communicates with students via email; it is the student’s responsibility to keep their Scholarship Portal account updated with their current email address.

Loss of Eligibility:

Failure to register as a full-time student for the first semester of freshman year of college studying medicine or biological sciences.
