Overview -
Eligibility

Eligibility: (taken into consideration to determine recipients) • Graduating high school senior who currently is or used to be in foster care in Calumet County as a high school student • Planning to attend an accredited college or university, technical school, or vocational school as a part-time or full-time student • Minimum 2.5 GPA during the last two semesters of high school, with a solid trend upward the last two years, if grades have not always been at that level • Shows “promise” by exhibiting a desire to learn more and always tries to do their best • Respects and is respected by friends, classmates, and teachers • Financial need will be considered

Award Amount:

Potential for two renewable scholarships, up to $1,500 per year, payable by semester (up to $750/semester), awarded for tuition expenses. May be renewed up to 4 ½ years for a maximum of $6,750. Scholarship award value will be based on tuition cost of the school the student chooses to attend.

Selection:

Recipients will be recommended each spring by the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region Scholarship Selection Committee.

Collecting the Award & Payment Procedure:

Recipients must fill out and submit Scholarship Acceptance Form and Scholarship Verification Form through the Scholarship Portal (https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=cffvrscholar). Recipients are required to provide supporting documents as instructed in the Scholarship Verification Form, such as class registration/list with credits listed, proof of major, grade transcript, etc. After approval of online Scholarship Verification Form, the scholarship check will be paid directly to the school the recipient will be attending. The Community Foundation communicates with students via email; it is the student’s responsibility to keep their Scholarship Portal account updated with their current email address.

Loss of Eligibility:

Failure to register as a full- or part-time student within one year of graduating from high school. Award may be renewed for up to 4 ½ years as long as the student remains a student in good academic standing.
