Overview

Background:

Frank J. Sensenbrenner Scholarship was established in 1959 with an initial gift from Gertrude Bergstrom, in memory of Mr. Sensenbrenner, one of the founders of Kimberly Clark. The fund has grown over the years with additional contributions.

Eligibility

Eligibility:

• Graduating seniors from Appleton high schools • Minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA • Pursuing a minimum four-year degree at one of the following schools: o Lawrence University o Marquette University o St. Norbert College o University of Wisconsin School • Demonstrated academic achievement and leadership • Preference may be given to students who reside in Appleton • Financial need will be considered • Applicants who are related to Frank Sensenbrenner or to members of the Infant Welfare Circle of Appleton are ineligible to apply

Award Amount:

One $1,000 per semester renewable scholarship award for up to four years (total $8,000) for cost of attendance.

Selection:

Recipients are recommended each spring by the Infant Welfare Circle F. J. Sensenbrenner Scholarship Selection Committee within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region.

Collecting the Award & Payment Procedure:

Recipients must fill out and submit Scholarship Acceptance Form and Scholarship Verification Form through the Scholarship Portal (https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=cffvrscholar). Recipients are required to provide supporting documents as instructed in the Scholarship Verification Form, such as class registration/list with credits listed, proof of major, grade transcript, etc. After approval of online Scholarship Verification Form, the scholarship check will be paid directly to the school the recipient will be attending. The Community Foundation communicates with students via email; it is the student’s responsibility to keep their Scholarship Portal account updated with their current email address.

Loss of Eligibility:

Failure to maintain full-time student status with a 2.5 GPA at one of the following schools: Lawrence University, Marquette University, St. Norbert College, or an institution within the University of Wisconsin system.
