Hoeft Family Scholarship
Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region
Background: “Equality of opportunity is an idea I’ve always supported. Helping motivated people open doors for themselves through education, even in a small way like this, is a step in that direction. The Hortonville school experience broadened my horizons and I hope this scholarship can do the same.” -David Hoeft, the chief benefactor of the Hoeft Family Scholarship, attended the University of Chicago, received his MBA from Harvard Business School and became an investor who resides, with his family, in San Francisco. “Some opportunities are difficult to truly appreciate until many years later; and I would put my attending the Hortonville schools and this scholarship both in that category. As a result of my brother’s vision and generosity, I hope recipients of this award will realize that the combination of their hard work and pushing themselves to reach for something a little further than they think possible will lead to many rewards down the road.” -Lisa Hoeft Prock, Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician, directs the Adoption Program at Children’s Hospital in Boston, graduated from University of Chicago, Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, and received her master’s degree in Public Health from Harvard University. “It is exciting to see young people spread their wings through learning and, ultimately, through contributions to society because of that education. It is important to our family. My husband and I always had the hope that our children would, no matter what their life/career choices, give back in ways that would benefit others. This scholarship is an answer to that dream.” -Gloria Hoeft, proud mother of David and Lisa. Lyle (deceased in 1999) and Gloria Hoeft’s children, David and Lisa, graduated from Hortonville schools and went on to excel in their post-secondary education and careers.
