Overview

Background:

The Guyon Scholarship Fund For Veterans has been established by Ann Guyon in honor and memory of her husband Bill Guyon. Bill served two years in the Army Veterinary Corps, then received his degree from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. Bill later went back to school and received an advanced degree from Thunderbird University in Arizona. Armed with new knowledge, he took a position in Appleton at Miller Electric in International Sales and had the opportunity to travel to sixtyseven countries in the 15 years he worked for the company.

Eligibility

Eligibility: (taken into consideration to determine recipients) • Veterans of the United States military residing in one of the following counties: o Calumet o Outagamie o Shawano o Waupaca o Winnebago • Planning to pursue post-secondary education as a new or continuing student at an accredited 2- or 4-year college, university, or technical school as a full-time or part-time student • Financial need will be considered

Award Amount:

One $1,000 non-renewable scholarship award for cost of attendance, payable during the first semester of college.

Selection:

Recipients are selected each spring by the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region’s

Scholarship Selection Committee.

Collecting the Award & Payment Procedure:

Recipients must fill out and submit Scholarship Acceptance Form and Scholarship Verification Form through the Scholarship Portal (https://www.grantinterface.com/Home/Logon?urlkey=cffvrscholar). Recipients are required to provide supporting documents as instructed in the Scholarship Verification Form, such as class registration/list with credits listed, proof of major, grade transcript, etc. After approval of online Scholarship Verification Form, the scholarship check will be paid directly to the school the recipient will be attending. The Community Foundation communicates with students via email; it is the student’s responsibility to keep their Scholarship Portal account updated with their current email address.

Loss of Eligibility:

Failure to register as a full-time or part-time student at an accredited 2- or 4-year college, university, or technical school for the first semester of college.
