George H. Kesting Foundation Scholarship
Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region
Background:
The George Kesting Foundation was established in 1973 for the purpose of furthering the higher education of high school graduates with good character, who, without such aid might not be able to successfully pursue their education. George lived in Appleton most of his life. He operated a farm located just east of Meade Street near Northland Avenue for many years prior to his retirement. George never married until he was in his 90’s, so he did not have any children or close relative in his later years. He was a simple man with no more than a high school education. He sold most of his farm acreage for housing development following his retirement but continued to live the remainder of his life in a modest house on a corner of his former farm property
