Frank Schnabl Scholarship for Nursing
Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region
Background:
Frank J. Schnabl, Jr. established this scholarship prior to his passing in September 2014, at the age of 87. He graduated from Seymour High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from UW Oshkosh in 1952. He later attended UW Eau Claire and received a Master of Science in 1965. Frank taught chemistry in Orfordville, WI, Kewaunee, WI and at UW Fox Valley in Menasha, WI. He also served as a research associate at The Institute of Paper Chemistry. Frank was a World War II Army Veteran, a member of the Three Lakes Legion, and Appleton VFW. He was an avid historical buff and was a member of the Nichols and Seymour Historical Societies and wrote the Nichols Historical Newspaper for many years. He had a love for animals and enjoyed traveling, especially to the Kentucky Derby, which he attended several times. At his cabin in Three Lakes, he remarked often, “This place is the closest to God that I ever could get.” Frank felt that he had a very rewarding career and wanted to share that feeling of reward with others through this scholarship.
