Overview

Scholarship:

This scholarship offered by Colorado Garden Foundation is a four-year full-ride scholarship available to an incoming freshman resident from Colorado at a publicly funded Colorado college or university. This scholarship includes tuition, fees, room & board, and all required books for the four years. In addition, the student will be given a laptop computer and printer at the start of their freshman year.

I. Purpose of the Scholarship Program:

Colorado Garden Foundation scholarship program awards financial aid to students in the following fields of study:

• Agriculture Business • Agriculture Education • Horticulture • Floriculture • Landscape Architecture • Botany • Plant Biology • Plant Pathology/Science • Nursery & Landscape Management • Environmental Horticulture • Agronomy

Applicants must be majoring in one of these fields of study. Approval must be granted by the Colorado Garden Foundation Scholarship Committee for application to be made in any major other than the ones listed.

Eligibility

Terms Under Which Scholarships are Awarded:

  1. Applications must be submitted on the required application form, with all required additional information attached.
  2. Applications must be mailed to Colorado Garden Foundation. All applications must be received in our office by March 15th . No applications received after that date will be considered.
  3. All applications received will be reviewed and judged by Colorado Garden Foundation in order to choose one winning application. Only Colorado residents can apply. The scholarship award will be for a maximum of four years.
  4. The finalists will be required to have a face-to-face interview in Denver with the board of directors of the Colorado Garden Foundation.
  5. An annual cumulative grade point average of 2.50 must be maintained. Student must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.
  6. Student will be expected to perform a minimum of 20 documented hours of annual volunteer community service in a related field.
  7. At any time during the student’s four year experience at college, this scholarship can be revoked for the following reasons: • Annual grade point average falls below 2.50 • Change of major outside of approved fields • Conduct unbecoming a scholarship recipient
  8. After the scholarship grant has been submitted to the college or university of the student’s choice, it cannot be transferred to another college or university without prior written permission from Colorado Garden Foundation.
  9. In the event of a change in the student’s major to one other than those approved by Colorado Garden Foundation or if the student withdraws from school, the balance of scholarship funds must be returned to: Colorado Garden Foundation 959 S. Kipling Parkway, Suite 100 Lakewood, Colorado 80226
  10. Scholarships are to be disbursed from the Financial Aid Office of the college or university the student is attending. Checks will not be sent directly to students from Colorado Garden Foundation. Funds will be disbursed each semester.
  11. Student shall provide written correspondence each semester updating Colorado Garden Foundation on impact of the full-ride scholarship and how classes and major are preparing him/her for the future. Correspondence can be mailed or emailed to Colorado Garden Foundation (jim@ColoradoGardenFoundation.org) and should not exceed one page. Correspondence will be used for Colorado Garden Foundation marketing to help promote the scholarship program.
  12. If the student is awarded the full-ride scholarship they must revoke other scholarships they may, or already have, received other than government subsidies.
