Overview

City is proud to support equal access to higher education for forced migrants. The Sanctuary Scholarship consists of full tuition fee support and a grant to help with the costs of living.

"I never thought I'd ever go to university due to extreme barriers and difficulties that I found myself in since I came in the UK… City Cares has played a key role on who I am today considering their continuing support through Sanctuary Scholarship (a whole turning point of my life) and the grants recently awarded. Words cannot describe enough how thankful and pleased I am, hopefully one day it will be my turn to give back to City Cares in the best way possible. They made City University of London feel like my home!” Essa, Sanctuary Scholar 2019-2022 LLB Law Graduate, 1st Class

The Sanctuary Scholarship provides a full tuition fee waiver and a grant equivalent of a full maintenance loan from Student Finance England to cover living expenses.

Successful applicants will also receive a place on the City Cares programme which provides a designated staff member to offer support and guidance throughout. We intend to award up to 3 undergraduate scholarships in 2023.
