Overview

Skye Foundation

The Skye Foundation was established in 1997 by the Zylstra Family Trust to fund postgraduate scholarships in South Africa and abroad.

A number of scholarships are awarded annually to South African postgraduates who have distinguished themselves academically and have been nominated for consideration by faculty Deans. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic achievement in any discipline and are tenable worldwide.

The Foundation works with the Cambridge Trust to offer the Skye Cambridge Scholarship, available to Master's and PhD applicants in any academic subject.

Eligibility

This scholarship is available to Masters and PhD applicants from South Africa, in any academic subject. It is tenable at any College.

Offered in partnership with the Skye Foundation.

  • University tuition fee
  • Annual stipend (sufficient for a single person)
  • Immigration Health Surcharge

Conditions

  • Successful candidates will be required to return to South Africa on completion of their studies
  • Applicants should hold a first degree from a recognised university

How to apply

Candidates must be nominated to the Skye Foundation by faculty deans at South African universities (the Skye Foundation does not accept applications directly from candidates), and must then apply to Skye by the published deadline. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by Skye.

Candidates must apply for admission to the University of Cambridge before the funding deadline specific to their course (please refer to the Postgraduate Course Directory). No award will be made to an applicant who has not already gained admission.
