Gloria Mills Mallamas and James Vincent Mallamas, Jr. Scholarship Fund

Gloria Cathryn Mallamas is a woman who values family, friends, education and hard work. She established this endowment as both a permanent memorial to her late husband and as an expression of her love for the people of WV. Jimmy Mallamas graduated from WWHS and earned an Associate in Science degree from Beckley College. He was a successful general contractor, designing and building custom homes in the Beckley area. Gloria wrote, “My late husband loved children and had a good influence on many young people. He always encouraged others to continue their education, which he did throughout his life.” Because of this, income will be used for need and merit based scholarships for college qualified students born and educated in either Raleigh or Mercer counties.

• Need and Merit based.
• College qualified students residing in the WV counties of Raleigh and Mercer and graduating from Raleigh or Mercer County, WV high schools.
• The 2017-2018 recipient must be a Raleigh county graduate.

Renewable: Yes; must re-apply annually. Available for an additional three years if the recipient maintains a “B” or better average while taking a full academic load.
