​Brown Wesley Payne Fellowship Scholarship

The Mountain State Bar Association named this fund for a much respected Raleigh County attorney, remembered for his courageous leadership in the black community and for the quality of legal representation he gave every client. Income will be used for need based scholarships to aid minority West Virginians who attend law school and plan to practice in this state. The association continues to build this fund while making an annual scholarship award from other contributions.

• Provides scholarship aid to disadvantaged and minority West Virginians who will attend law school to prepare for a legal practice in the State of West Virginia.
• Applicants must demonstrate outstanding contribution to organizations and programs in the human rights field.
