Overview
Emeritus Professor Ellen Maev O’Collins established this endowed scholarship in 2015 to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students undertaking health sciences and social work studies. Prof. O’Collins was instrumental in developing ACU’s Social Work degree, serving ACU for over 20 years. Her service to the people of Papua New Guinea as Professor in the Department of Anthropology and Sociology at the University of Port Moresby saw her awarded an MBE in 1987. In 2019 ACU awarded her its highest honour, Doctor of the University (honoris causa).

This scholarship is open to applicants who meet all of the following criteria, by the scholarship application close date:
- Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students (Confirmation of Aboriginality will be required)
- Commencing ACU course in Semester 1, 2023 or prior
- Faculty: Health Sciences
- Campus: Canberra
- Study load: full-time
- Financial hardship
