Magabala Fellowship

This is a mid-career Fcholarship to allow an author to work on a current manuscript. This Fellowship is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander storytellers and writers who have previously published at least two books. Magabala welcomes submissions of junior, young adult and adult fiction, poetry and memoir (please note that children’s picture book manuscripts are ineligible).
Manuscripts may be in English, Aboriginal English, an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander language, or a combination of these, including a bilingual text.
Magabala Books reserves the first right of refusal to publish the work. The Fellowship payment is separate to a publishing contract.

How to Apply Please complete this form and attach three documents (12 sized font, double-spaced, in a Word Doc format):
- No more than 500 words explaining how this grant money would benefit you;
- A short outline of the plot of your manuscript of no more than 250 words and;
- A sample of your manuscript.

To be eligible for this Fellowship, you must:
- Be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, currently living in Australia;
- Be 18 years or older;
- Have published a minimum of two trade published books (self-published works do not fit this criteria);
- Be working on an unpublished manuscript and;
- Be able to outline how you would benefit from this fellowship.
