Overview

We provide financial support to Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander research students through the Indigenous Postgraduate Research Award (IPRA). The scholarship includes a stipend to cover living costs, a fees offset which covers the cost of tuition fees, and specified allowances.

What you'll receive: an annual stipend paid fortnightly, indexed annually, to support your living costs. From 31 March 2023, the annual stipend rate is $45,000 (AUD) at the full-time rate.

You can also apply for: a $1,520 relocation allowance.

How to apply You can register your interest for an IPRA scholarship on your Expression of Interest (EOI) when you apply for a research degree.

Eligibility

You must: -be studying or applying and eligible for admission for a PhD, research masters, or professional doctorate

  • be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and provide a confirmation of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
