Holding Redlich has a longstanding commitment to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through its legal services. Overtime this commitment has expanded to working to create sustainable relationships, including through employment opportunities. In this regard, Holding Redlich is committed to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to reach tangible and transformative outcomes involving the creation and support of clear pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander law students to obtain employment in the legal industry. Accordingly, Holding Redlich has established this scholarship to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander law students with the completion of their university education.

The value of the scholarship is $5,000 paid in 2 equal instalments after census date of Study Period 1 and Study Period 2.
How do I apply? Applications must be submitted on the official application form no later than the date set by the Selection Committee for the year in which the award is to be made. Applicants must submit with the official form, where appropriate:
- A copy of your academic record from any other academic institution; and
- A one page resume outlining work experience, volunteer experience and community involvement; and
- A one page cover letter addressing: 1.Brief background and cultural affiliations. 2.What motivated you to study law. 3.How you have been active and involved in your community.
Applications submitted without the relevant documentation will not be considered. The applicant authorises the Selection Committee to make such enquires as to the applicant's good character and suitability to receive the scholarship, which includes authorization for the Selection Committee to examine the applicant's academic record, and seek opinions from relevant members of the academic staff of this University or any other academic institution.
The Holding Redlich Indigenous Law Scholarship is open for you to apply if you:
- Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; and
- Are in your 2nd or 3rd year of a Law degree (i.e. have completed at least 24 credit points towards a JCU law degree or dual degree); and
- Have not previously received the Holding Redlich Indigenous Law Scholarship; and
- Are enrolled full time.
