Griffith University QIC Indigenous Tertiary Scholarship

The QIC Indigenous Tertiary Scholarship is to support Indigenous students studying a degree in commerce, economics, business, government and industrial relations, law, science, I.T., engineering, mathematics or psychology.
As part of this scholarship, QIC will provide a mentor who will support and assist the recipient throughout their university degree.

Value The scholarship is valued at $10,000, paid in instalments of $5,000 in Trimester 1 and Trimester 2 only, provided conditions are met.
Subject to approval by the donor, the scholarship may continue for an additional period. The continuation of the scholarship is at the discretion of the donor and is subject to the recipient meeting the terms and conditions of the scholarship for each applicable year. Recipients will be notified in writing of the outcome each applicable year.
Conditions are verified each trimester and payments are then made up to six weeks after the trimester census date once confirmation conditions have been met.
As part of the scholarship, QIC will provide a mentor to the student who will support and assist the student throughout their university degree. The mentor will be selected based on the successful applicants preferred qualities and values in a mentor.
How to Apply To be considered for this scholarship you must complete the following sections within the application:
- Study Details:
- Secondary education history and;
- Program preferences; or
- Program: details of current degree.
Personal statements:
- Career goals and aims: statement about yourself and your personal attributes e.g. ability to overcome adversity, potential to achieve at university, community involvement, career aspirations, interests and drive;
- Scholarship benefit: statement outlining the impact the scholarship would have on your life and how it will assist you in achieving your current and future career goals;
- Anything else section: prepare a statement about how you can apply your personal attributes and career aspirations in an organisation like QIC. (optional to attach as a document).
You must upload aCurriculum Vitae (CV) in the supporting documentation section. (Please use the following formats- pdf, word, jpeg or excel. We can only guarantee these formats with be accepted)
To be eligible, you must:
- be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander*
- be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- be enrolled in full-time study at Griffith University
- have a minimum GPA of 4.0 (if a current student)
Be currently studying, or be commencing study, in one of the following undergraduate bachelor degrees:
- Bachelor of Commerce
- Bachelor of Economics
- Bachelor of Business
- Bachelor of Law
- Bachelor of Science
- Bachelor of Information Technology
- Bachelor of Engineering
- Bachelor of Mathematics
- Bachelor of Psychology
- Bachelor of Government and International Relations.
Students may apply in any year of study.
*Confirmation of Heritage may be required (a letter of confirmation is usually obtained from an incorporated Indigenous organisation and stamped with their Common Seal).
