South Asian Studies Council Conference Grant for Graduate Students

The South Asian Studies Council Travel Grant provides travel support for Yale University Graduate Students to attend and/or participate in South Asian Studies workshops, conferences and meetings on topics in South Asian history, politics, economics, languages and culture in the United States and internationally throughout the academic year as well as during the summer.
The competition is open to graduate students in all disciplines. Funds are administered by the South Asian Studies Council at the MacMillan Center.
Awards, generally range from $500 to $1,200 and can be applied to travel and room and board. Priority will be given to students with demonstrated academic commitment to South Asia.
Application Information: DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION: 6-8 WEEKS PRIOR TO PROJECT TRAVEL DATE.
A COMPLETE APPLICATION MUST CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING:
- South Asian Studies Council Travel Grant for Graduate Students application form.
- A summary of no more than two pages outlining the proposed project, including its duration and location, the resources to be used, and possible institutional affiliations.
- An itemized budget. Please indicate in your budget all other possible sources of funding (MANDATORY: Fill out and include the budget worksheet.)
- A list of the other sources of support, both within Yale and at the national level, to which you are applying (including the amounts).
- An email from your DGS confirming that you are in good academic standing and may receive the award should be sent to the Program Manager (at kasturi.gupta@yale.edu) in time of your application.
Restrictions to Use of Award: Students MUST provide original travel receipts to substantiate all expenses incurred and paid with funds received from the South Asian Studies Council. ANY FUNDS NOT EXPENDED MUST BE RETURNED TO THE SOUTH ASIAN STUDIES COUNCIL BY CHECK WITHIN 10 DAYS AFTER RETURN OR COMPLETION OF TRAVEL.
