Simon Gibson Charitable Trust
Mr Simon Gibson, who farmed near Newmarket, established the Trust in 1975 as a general grant providing trust. Since then, the Trust has been added to and built to a current managed fund value of over £16million. In the Spring of each year the Trustees meet to agree dispersals. Typically, some 140 charities are supported, of which approximately 60 are regular beneficiaries. Grants range from £1,000 to £20,000, the typical grant being £3,000-£5,000.
Helping Registered Charities in many disciplines, in particular young people and the elderly.
Please note that only postal applications submitted between 1st January and 31st March will be considered.
If you are a UK Registered Charity or a Community Interest Company, either nationally or locally organised that have an emphasis on delivering benefit within our designated geographical areas and are either seeking core funding or specific project funding, we would be pleased to hear from you.
Our geographically supported areas are; Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire; Hertfordshire; Glamorganshire, Gwent, Powys and Camarthanshire. National charities are more likely to be considered if they support local causes in our designated geographical regions. We have a bias towards organisations that favour the young or the elderly, or those with conservational, educational or religious purposes.
Some of our support is provided to organisations that we have built up a relationship with over the years. However, we do, each year, consider applications from new organisations that meet our criteria. If your application was unsuccessful we suggest that you wait for at least one year before trying again..
The Trusts eligibility criteria, regrettably, does not allow support to the following: *Individuals or organisationas applying on behalf of individuals. *Students seeking sponsorship for educational or gap purposes. *Conferences, seminars or workshops. *Oversea's charities, other than conservation charities or those previously known to the Trustees.
