Overview

The Office of Minority Health (OMH) announces anticipated availability of funding to support the Leading Health Indicators Initiative (LHII) for innovative adaptations of evidence based/evidence informed practices designed to increase utilization of preventative healthcare and support services among racial/ethnic minority and disadvantaged communities. The LHII intends to demonstrate the effectiveness of collaborative partnerships that include trusted messengers, and public and healthcare entities in improving health outcomes relative to HP 2030 LHIs. Recent public health emergencies and natural disasters have demonstrated the importance of trusted messengers to facilitate access to and utilization of preventive health care services. Projects funded under the LHII will implement public health improvement models intended to improve health for 1-2 Healthy People 2030 LHIs in geographic areas targeted by the recipients. OMH also expects the initiative will result in enhanced capacity of public health, community, and government entities to address and reduce health disparities experienced by racial and ethnic minority, and disadvantaged communities.
