OJP is committed to advancing work that promotes civil rights and racial equity, increases access to justice, supports crime victims and individuals impacted by the justice system, strengthens community safety and protects the public from crime and evolving threats, and builds trust between law enforcement and the community. With this solicitation, NIJ seeks to address the mandate required in Section 507(a)(6), an evaluation of "[t]he quality and effectiveness of technical assistance provided by the Department of Justice to grantees for implementing such programs." Statutory Authority: The First Step Act of 2018 (Pub. L. No. 115-391, 132 Stat 5194, 5235-37, § 507 (codified at 34 U.S.C. § 60501 Note)); 34 U.S.C. § 60555; Title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (sections 201 and 202); 28 U.S.C. § 530C.
