Church Restoration Grants
Marshall's Charity
The church must be an Anglican church within the Church of England. Anglican churches within the following dioceses may apply for a Church Restoration Grant: *Canterbury *Guildford *Lincoln *Southwark. *For technical reasons the parishes of North Woolwich and Staunton St Mary are also eligible.
While grants are for building projects, Trustees want to support projects where the building works will benefit the mission and ministry of the church.
The dioceses are well placed to advise where grants may best be directed in order to support the strategic priorities. Therefore when an application is received, the relevant diocese will be invited by Marshall’s to supply a statement.
The grants are for restoration and repair. Eligible repairs include: *roof repairs *tower repairs *stonework *church floors new heating and lighting *new toilets *adaptations for disabled access *reordering including kitchen facilities, as long as they are within the footprint of the church building *sound systems *rewiring *mullions (not glazing)
(*The Trustees would like to encourage churches to consider installing heating systems based on renewable technologies (for example, air source heat pumps) or micro generation of electricity. An application for such a system is likely to be considered for the maximum possible grant.)
Works that are not eligible include: *solely professional fees *works outside the footprint of the church, including: *church halls *external meeting rooms and facilities *church grounds *boundary walls and fences *redecoration including re-gilding *bells *organs *clocks *monuments *brasses *stained glass
The Grants Committee meets three times each year. Applications which are shortlisted by the committee are then considered at the next full meeting of the trustees.
The church must be an Anglican church within the Church of England. The Church must be licensed for worship and not being considered for closure.
