Mentorship
Koda Kultur
The purpose of the Mentorship grant is to support the artistic growth and development of composers within the genre of art music – which for the purposes of this grant includes not only modern classical music, but also sound art, experimental electronic music and related genres.
You can apply to be mentored by other composers, artists or other persons with relevant high-level skills and qualifications (mentors), thereby promoting your own professional and artistic growth.
A mentor-mentee relationship requires commitment from both sides, a sense of genuine mutual interest and good chemistry. It offers an excellent opportunity to acquire new inspiration if, for example, you want a change of direction or wish to acquire new techniques, compositional skills and/or technological skills.
To qualify for funding, the mentor’s work must be of a nature that will benefit the applicant’s professional development.
A grant of up to DKK 5,000 is awarded. The amount is paid to the applicant once the mentorship is completed.
You cannot receive multiple mentorships with the same mentor; it must be a new mentor each time.
You cannot receive support for the same project from several pools under Koda Culture. This applies according to 6.D in our regulation. Find the regulation here.
This means that if you for example apply for publication, you can only receive support once for your publishing project. You cannot receive support for publication from both The Publishing pool, The Up-and-Coming Grant and The Recording/Release Grant at the same time. On the other hand, you will be able to receive support for other processes of the same project from other pools. For example, if you have received support for the recording/release part of your project, you can apply for support for the next phase of your project, e.g. for promoting your release or from the PR pools.
We have pools that support the different processes that your project can go through. The processes can – from an overall point of view – be divided into:
- Create (idea, clarification, writing)
- Improve/develop (coaching, camps, education)
- Release (record, mix, master)
- Disseminate' (PR/marketing, concert production, fairs and exhibitions)
The Mentorship grant welcomes applications from all composers, who are members of Koda, and who work within the genre of art music.
What you must include your my application:
- An application (1 page or less, to be submitted as a PDF file). Also attach a description of your artistic project and the kind of process you wish to embark on.
- CVs for the applicant and mentor alike.
- A written agreement between applicant and mentor
- At least one audio file featuring an example of your work.
- Applications for mentorship do not need to include a budget.
The Mentorships scheme accepts applications four times annually. The application deadlines are:
- March 1st
- June 1st
- September 1st
- December 1st
Note: We will open for the receipt of applications for the next round ca. 3 weeks before deadline.
