Make Sound Residency

Artists in residency become an integrated part of an exceptional artistic environment, and can access the wide variety of technical facilities, studios, and project space at IAC, as well as technical assistance.

The assessment will emphasize on the extent to which the individual project idea and the desired residency can help to develop new formats and approaches to experimental music as well as sound based art. We value all qualifying attempts to exceed and challenge the boundaries of what we normally associate with contemporary music and sound based art.

Applicants may apply for residencies from 2 to 5 weeks

The residency includes a fixed travel and accommodation stipend (or contribution) of 5.000 DKK and a weekly working stipend of 5.000 DKK, for other residency/productions costs or as an artist fee.

You cannot receive support for the same project from several pools under Koda Culture. This applies according to 6.D in our regulation. Find the regulation here.

This means that if you for example apply for publication, you can only receive support once for your publishing project. You cannot receive support for publication from both The Publishing pool, The Up-and-Coming Grant and The Recording/Release Grant at the same time. On the other hand, you will be able to receive support for other processes of the same project from other pools. For example, if you have received support for the recording/release part of your project, you can apply for support for the next phase of your project, e.g. for promoting your release or from the PR pools.

We have pools that support the different processes that your project can go through. The processes can – from an overall point of view – be divided into:

• Create (idea, clarification, writing)
• Improve/develop (coaching, camps, education)
• Release (record, mix, master)
• Disseminate' (PR/marketing, concert production, fairs and exhibitions)

Composers and sound based artists residing in Denmark or with a significant connection to the Danish music scene can apply for the Make Sound Residency.

Applicants need to describe the project they want to work with during the residency. In addition to a project description, we also need a motivation and elaboration on how to connect to the facilities and environment that IAC offers.

Furthermore, the application must include a resume (CV), at least 2-3 examples of existing works and a presentation of the applicant’s artistic practice.

Applications can be submitted twice a year with the deadlines on 1 April and 1 October.
