Grants of up to £5,000 or £10,000 for groups helping to tackle identified need in Hertfordshire
Hertfordshire Community Foundation
The HCF Large grants invite applications from projects that are addressing need within Hertfordshire.
Grants of up to £10,000 are available for projects addressing our current priorities. At present these are:
- Mental health needs in children and young people
- Social isolation in people over 65
Grants of up to £5,000 are available for projects addressing all other identified needs, including needs emerging from the covid pandemic, and to support refugees in Hertfordshire.
Successful applications from this programme are funded by a range of the individual, family and corporate funds managed by HCF. The grants panel meets to consider applications four times throughout the year. You can apply to this programme any time throughout the year and your application will be reviewed at the next meeting, based on the current deadline.
HCF are looking for projects that:
- Are meeting an identified need in the county - we encourage groups to reference evidence where available. We encourage applicants to reference our own Hertfordshire Matters reports or other relevant research or data where appropriate.
- Can demonstrate how the money requested will help them to make a positive difference (i.e. have clear objectives and outcomes).
- Are well thought through and costed appropriately.
- Are well connected to the communities they serve.
- Will be able to spend the funding requested within 12 months of the grant being awarded.
Who can apply?
• Charities • Community or voluntary groups with a written constitution or governing document • Social enterprises, or Community Interest Companies limited by guarantee • Other non-profit format (e.g. co-operative societies) Groups of all sizes are welcome to apply, but priority is always given to smaller grassroots groups. In practise this means that groups with annual income over £1m are rarely funded from this programme. If your organisation has income of this size but you have a discrete project you would like to apply for, please contact us for an informal conversation before applying
