Overview

Guts UK are announcing a grant call for research projects on any area of gastroenterology (including hepatology and pancreatology), and research on nutrition. Seven grants of up to £50,000 each will be awarded for development or translational research. Five grants for research on gastroenterology (including hepatology and pancreatology) and two grants for research on any aspect of nutrition that is related to gastroenterology (including pancreatology and hepatology) . It is envisaged that the research project could allow the collection of pilot or proof-of-concept data that will enable a high-quality competitive application to be made subsequently to a research council or other large funder, such as the National Institute of Health Research. Applications will be assessed for plausibility, feasibility, importance, originality, suitability of research team, as well as for the potential to elicit clinically useful results, further funding and/or follow up studies.

BUDGET AND RESEARCH DURATION: The maximum allowed budget is £50,000. Only the direct costs associated with the project will be funded. Overhead allocation or other indirect costs, including senior or supervisory posts which are already covered by HEFCE or other funding will not be funded. Equipment or capital costs will not be funded either. The maximum duration of the projects should be 24 months.
