Fulbright Germany
Program period: August 17 to September 16, 2023
The Diversity Initiative is hosted by Trinity University in San Antonio , Texas . It is one of the most respected "liberal arts colleges" in the USA and is known for excellent teaching, practice-oriented courses and intensive exchange between students and teachers.
The cultural change of perspective is at the heart of the Fulbright Diversity Initiative. Together with their US fellow students, the participants experience life on campus up close. Outside the university, too, the Diversity Initiative provides an exciting insight into the multicultural life of the host region.
SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS We support program participation with a grant. It includes the following services:
financing
- the program and course fees
- the costs for accommodation (in double rooms) and meals on the university campus
- of transatlantic air travel based on a group flight arrangement
- international health insurance for the duration of the program
maintenance
- Supervision by Fulbright Germany in Berlin and by the host university in the USA
- Participation in a preparatory meeting (probably online in July 2023)
- Admission to the network of scholarship holders and alumnae:i from Fulbright Germany
The students make their own contribution of 400 euros (ie 100 euros per program week).
At the end of the program, Fulbright Germany awards the students with a certificate of participation.
With Trinity University, we plan to conduct the program in 2023 as an on-site study program. If this is not possible, the program will take place in a virtual format.
TARGET GROUP In accordance with the requirements of the Fulbright program , we address students who contribute to academic and cultural exchange between Germany and the USA through their personal skills and commitment.
We invite students to apply who
- have a migration background
- at the time of participation in the program in the summer semester 2023 in the 3rd - 6th semester
- as a full-time student in a bachelor's degree
- at a state-recognized German university or technical college are enrolled.
Fulbright Germany defines the migration background according to the definition of the Federal Statistical Office (DESTATIS).
Students in dual courses cannot be considered in this program.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
- German citizenship (at the time of the application deadline)
- Enrollment in a bachelor's degree at a state-recognized German university or technical college (see target group above)
- Conclusive justification for program participation
- Good to very good professional training (transcript of records)
- Good English language skills, at least B2 (no proof required)
- Willingness to assume social responsibility
- Motivation to work for German-American understanding
- Active interests/commitment outside of your studies
- No Fulbright scholarship in the past five years
- German passport valid until at least December 17, 2023
- Applicants should not have any relevant study experience in the USA.

To apply, please submit the following documents.

- Current academic record document with logo, letterhead or verification code of the institution. Grades and average grade must be visible (in the upload area of the online application)
- Certificate of enrollment with the current date showing the current semester (in the upload area of the online application)
- Copy of your university entrance qualification (in the upload area of the online application)
- 1 letter of recommendation from a university lecturer with a doctorate (please only use the online form)
The application deadline is February 22, 2023 (11:59 p.m.).
We can only consider those applications in the selection process that are received by Fulbright Germany on time and in full and that meet the formal requirements . A selection committee appointed by Fulbright Germany decides on the nomination for participation in the program based on the written application documents. We will notify all applicants of the outcome of the application process by the end of May 2023.
Please note: in case of a successful application for different Fulbright Germany programs taking place in 2023/2024, participation in this period can only be granted in one program.
