International Animal Biotechnology Regulatory Engagement
Foreign Agricultural Service
USDA/FAS works to collaborate with U.S. government agencies, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations, and industry to promote U.S. products of biotechnologies and understanding and acceptance of agricultural biotechnologies, including new initiatives related to the technology.
This project seeks to support these efforts by bringing regulators from around the world together with animal biotechnology developers and the livestock industry to help identify regulatory best practices. It is intended to strengthen the capacity of countries, especially in the developing world, to create regulations that will enable safe products of animal biotechnology to help address challenges faced in global animal agriculture. This potential will only be realized if the products of animals produced using biotechnology can be readily traded in global markets.
