Overview

The Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust is a small charity with a long history of providing financial support to families in the UK fashion and textile industry.

Our grants fund items which are essential to a child's health and wellbeing. Families applying for a kinship carer grant are encouraged to apply for either essential household items to cover start-up costs or ongoing items the children may need to support their needs, for example:

  • Children's bedroom furniture, e.g. beds, bedding, clothes storage furniture (chest of drawers)
  • Children's soft furnishings, e.g. curtains/blinds, rugs. Please note, we typically do not fund carpets or other flooring
  • Essential clothing, this includes, seasonal clothing and school uniform and PE kit.
  • Baby essentials, e.g. highchairs, safety gates and cots
  • Other essential household items e.g. a bigger fridge or larger capacity washing machine. All items will be considered at the discretion of the grants team

Please note: we do have capped amounts for most items. Amounts awarded are at the discretion of the charity.

Specialist support: If you are caring for children with additional health or psychological needs, we can provide funding for specialist items and therapy to meet their needs, these include:

  • Speech and language therapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Psychotherapy (e.g.talking therapies or counselling)
  • Play therapy
  • Art therapy
  • Music therapy
  • Mobility equipment
  • Specialist items
  • Sensory items
  • Adapted seating
