Grants for study essentials
Fashion & Textile Children's Trust
The Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust is a small charity with a long history of providing financial support to families in the UK fashion and textile industry.
Our grants fund items which are essential to a child's health and wellbeing, which includes everything they need for school, such as school uniform, study essentials and computer equipment.
We encourage families to think about the year ahead and apply for everything their child needs today and also in the coming months, for example:
- School Uniform (including for children attending nurseries which require uniform)
- PE Kit
- Footwear
- Sixth Form Clothing (e.g. if formal attire is required)
- College Clothing (including specialist clothing for vocational courses)
- General clothing for all children aged 0-18 years
- Study Essentials (e.g. schoolbag, stationery, books, etc)
- Course equipment (e.g to support vocational courses)
- Laptop for homework (children must be in secondary school to apply for laptop)
- Tablets for school age children to support with home learning during the Covid-19 school closures
- Specialist educational tools: If your child has additional educational needs and could benefit form specialist educational tools we can support with this too.
There are some items which we cannot fund, including:
- Travel costs
- School trips -Tuition fees
Our grants can help families who work or have recently work in the UK fashion and textile industry, and are feeling financially strained, with the cost of study equipment for their children. To apply to our charity, you must have worked for a business which sells, makes, distributes or processes products made from fabric. This work must have been paid, for at least one year, within the last nine years. If you're not sure your job qualifies as fashion and textiles it’s always better to check before assuming you can't apply. Our trade criteria is broader than it might sound including, clothing, soft furniture, fabric, laundry and some supermarkets.
