Overview

Large Grants (£10,001 and over):

Applications for Large Grants will be considered by trustees twice a year at full board meeting. Applications may only be made during certain times of the year and using the password protected Large Grants Application Form. Trustees aim to consider applications and notify applicants within 12 – 15 weeks of receipt of an application form. Large grants are typically agreed upon when the trustees have a deep understanding and/or close relationship with the charity, which may have developed over a period of several years. If you have not previously applied for a large grant and wish to make an application for funds over £10,001, please contact the Director first to discuss your application, and obtain the password.

Grants will be considered for start-up costs, core costs or for a specific project for which applicants have requested support. This could include a contribution towards a building/refurbishment project, purchase of specialist equipment or other similar capital expenditure, or assistance with running costs.

Principal support is given to charities working in the following areas:

  • Charitable work in the County of Sussex
  • Wildlife & Environmental Conservation (UK and International)
  • Reproductive Health (International) – applications within this category will only be considered for family planning projects delivering in Africa and Asia, and in areas where there is clear and intended impact on the environment.

The trustees use the following programme areas to classify their grants:

  • Care of the Elderly
  • Disability
  • General Welfare
  • Hospices
  • Reproductive Health (International)
  • Wildlife & Environmental Conservation (UK and International)
  • Youth

  • Charities with multiple branch offices in Sussex are requested to telephone or email for advice before making an application.
