Overview

Devon Community Foundation and the people who surround us have one thing at our heart: seeing our communities and the people within them thrive. We put donors together with our knowledge, expertise and experience to support small charities and community organisations all across Devon.

PURPOSE OF THE GRANT PROGRAMME: The aim of this fund is to support the provision of specialised movement lessons for children and adults with additional needs (including, but not limited to, developmental delays, autism, cerebral palsy, genetic conditions, neurological disorders, stroke, brain and physical injury) in order to improve the quality of their lives. These movement lessons and techniques must be specifically designed to take advantage of the brain’s plasticity, to facilitate neurological change and to form new neural connections, with the aim of moving the student beyond existing limitations. The fund will also consider funding specialist training in the styles of movement lessons stated above for: a) a parent or carer of a disabled person with the aim of improving that person’s wellbeing, or b) other adults aiming to provide such lessons within Devon.

AREA OF BENEFIT: Neurodevelopment Through Movement grants will support individuals living in Devon, including Torbay and Plymouth.

FUNDING AVAILABLE: Grants of any value will be considered and must be spent within 12 months of the award. DCF will pay to the provider of services or training directly.
