Overview

The Duke of Cornwall’s Benevolent Fund aims to make a real difference to young carers. A young carer is anyone aged 18 or under who helps to look after a relative or friend who has a disability, illness, mental health condition or substance abuse problem where these duties go beyond what would be expected for a person of their age.

For young carers aged 18 or under where their duties go beyond what would be expected for a person of their age. An application for a grant must be made by an organisation for the benefit of any young carer resident in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly who requires support.

Notes: Applications will be considered at the end of each quarter (March, June, Septemeber, December), we must be in receipt of your application 6 weeks prior to the panel date to be considered

Eligibility

Grants will be available to individuals within Cornwall who require support with the following; this is not an exhaustive list:

  • Respite Care
  • Accommodation
  • Learning Breaks
  • Healthy living
  • Activities/ Hobbies
  • Equipment

The funds are aimed at offering young carers the opportunity to be young people free from their caring responsibilities.

We are unable to support:

  • Something that would normally be funded by health or social care
  • Technology equipment such as laptops, computers, mobile phones and all relevant software etc.
  • Driving lessons, test or car costs
  • Trips abroad

An application for a grant must be made by an organisation for the benefit of any young carer resident in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly who requires support.
