ESRC Research Grants Scheme

The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) provides the Research Grants Scheme to support large-scale social science research, up to five years duration.

Funding is allocated through an open competition and there is no restriction on what research or research facility may be applied for, as long the project will make a major contribution to the UK social science research base.

Awards of between £350,000 and £1 million (at 100% full economic costs) are available.

Funding can be provided for up to five years.

There is no fixed budget, although ESRC expects to fund a maximum of four projects during the latest application round.

Applications may be submitted at any time.

ESRC research funding is available to:

• Universities.
• Colleges of higher education.
• Independent research institutes approved by the ESRC.
• Applicants must be based in the UK.
