Overview

The Welsh Government has confirmed funding for the bursary scheme for academic year 2022/23*

The Welsh Government has confirmed funding for another year to attract Welsh students aged 60 and over to do their master’s degree in Wales. Each bursary is worth £4,000.

Initial details are as follows:

Available to Welsh domiciled students aged 60 or over on the first day of the Academic Year of the course. The Academic Year is defined as:

  • 1 September 2022 where the Academic Year begins on or after 1 August 2022 and before January 2023
  • 1 January 2023 where the Academic Year begins on or after 1 January 2023 and before 1 April 2023
  • Available to those studying full 180 credit taught master’s degree programmes starting in academic year 2022/23 at Swansea University.
Eligibility

Initial eligibility details are as follows:

Available to Welsh domiciled and eligible EU (non-UK) students aged 60 or over on the first day of the Academic Year of the course. The Academic Year is defined as:

  • 1 September 2022 where the Academic Year begins on or after 1 August 2022 and before January 2023
  • 1 January 2023 where the Academic Year begins on or after 1 January 2023 and before 1 April 2023
  • to those studying full 180 credit taught master’s degree programmes starting in academic year 2022/23 at Swansea University.

Note: Students funded by other government funding such as Social Care Wales, NHS/HEIW, DHSSPS or Research Councils (KESS II) will not be eligible.
